The evil minded doesn't care about the multiplicity of good qualities in a good man. In this subhāṣita the Kavi advises a peacock thus -
O peacock, the cat isn't amused by your dance which is nectarine to the eyes, not by your sweet sound which is elixir to the ears, nor by your feathers as beautiful as the rainbow. The cat will not be amused by anything but your death.

The sense is that it is futile to display one's good qualities before a known evil person.

This is exactly what innocent Hindus do when confronted by a Christian missionary or a Jihadi. They talk about the greatness of Hinduism with those who are not satisfied with anything but the death of the latter.
